About Me

Here I am many years ago. My eyebrows have grown since. I’ve been forever living in Toronto, Canada, which you will see bits and pieces of in the images on this site. I work for the government (somebody has to …). Best thing in my life is my partner Ruth.

My first camera was a present from my uncle at age maybe 12. It was a Kodak Instamatic 104 that took square pictures — weirdly prescient, as were Polaroids, of today’s smartphone formats (think Instagram as most commonly used). More seriously, I bought a 35mm SLR and and some lenses in my twenties.  Had a lot fun. I once took an image of my dad which he submitted as the author’s pic for a magazine article he wrote. Made me feel like a real grownup photographer.

Then came a long quiet, lenses and camera lying still in a bag, waiting. This coincided with the tapering out of the film era, and with competing time pressures in life. But now …. a new chapter unfolds. This is the story of that.
