Here is my Instagram account, where all these images were originally posted, one per day, starting the First of July, 2017. But spoiler alert: the timelines, of course, are out of sync, as instagram has the complete year while I am slowly chipping away at it, month at a time, on this site.

The inspiration to create this website came from my friends at Wandering Canadians. I like the look they created — so I have used the same wordpress theme.

If you want to be a more creative photographer, and as a remarkable fringe benefit a better person, look no further than Canadian photography icon and workshop host extraordinaire Freeman Patterson.

Viewer discretion advised: neither of the following video links feature people yelling “WA’S’UP YOUTUBE!!”. If on the other hand you want to be more gently transported by photographers and their image making, try these:

  • Jim Brandenburg Chased by the Light. A stellar photographer does a variation on image a day: he limits himself to one single exposure a day. How good were the resulting images? National Geographic published the entire set. The video is an hour long, and totally worth every moment.
  • Christopher Burkett who makes images with a large format camera and prints even larger on paper he can no longer buy. There are moments of tender emotion in this story. Don’t be put off by the newscast-style opening — it’s a PBS vignette, and is a very good piece of reporting.

You:  do you have a personal photography or imagery project you would like to share? Let me know please — with the url or/and any details —  by commenting, or by email at martin@imageaday.ca. I’d like to add links to others’ journeys and stories right here.
